Overview of the Prevention Education Team
The Prevention Education Team consists of dedicated student staff who engage with the campus community through outreach, programs, presentations, and more. Our Prevention Team is divided into smaller groups that focus on a specific area of prevention. These teams are as follows:
- Empowerment in Action Team
- The Empowerment in Action Team leads workshops and awareness efforts that empower individuals to take action and support others, from bystanders to active upstanders.Their work centers on promoting the 3Ds approach—Direct, Distract, and Delegate—as effective tools for intervention. This team also focuses on providing resources through tabling fairs such as the Dating/Domestic Violence Awareness Month Tabling Fair
- Educational Initiatives Team
- This team delivers required presentations to Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) organizations within the UC Merced community. More information about our FSL presentations can be found here. In addition, the team offers an Overview Presentation for classes, clubs, and departments interested in learning more about our office and services. - Healthy Relationships Team
- The Healthy Relationships Team creates events and presentations centered on differnt types of relationships. Some of these relationships include familial, platonic, and romantic. These events highlights the differences between healthy and unhealthy dynamics, explores the different communication styles, and more. This team also offers a 3 day training with a certification called T.R.U.S.T. For more information, please visit the following link: T.R.U.S.T
- Outreach Team
- The Outreach teams focuses on being part of community events and tablings around campus. They provided the UC Merced and Merced Community with resources and events that the CARE Office hosts each month.
- Self-Care Team
- The Self-Care Team hosts events that explore the meaning and importance of self-care. They share helpful tips on various types of self-care to support the well-being of the UC Merced community. One of their biggests events is the Self-Care Fair, which features a variety of activities focused on promoting wellness. This team plays a vital role in reminding us to prioritize our own well-being and support those around us.
- Social Media Team
- This team is responsible for creating all promotional content shared on our social media platforms. Some of the content includes videos, awareness posts, blog content, workshop highlights, and more. All content is designed to engage the campus community and promote our programs and initiatives.
