There are many ways faculty and staff can engage in preventing violence in our community, which include:
- Being mindful of the language you use and jokes you may make.
- Advertising CARE events and encouraging your students, student-staff, or co-workers to attend them. Offering extra credit when possible.
- Participating in CARE events yourself.
- Practicing your response protocol in the event of a disclosure.
- Knowing what resources are available for survivors of violence.
- Including information about confidential resources in your course syllabus.
- Booking a Class Announcement.
- Including content warnings for sensitive content when possible.
- Encouraging students to discuss topics of sexism, rape culture and sexual violence in our media.
- Displaying posters or resources from our events and campaigns in your office.
- Collaborating with the CARE Office to incorporate prevention discussion into your curriculum and programming, where applicable
- Participating in donation drives and fundraisers to support survivors in our community such as our CARE's donation drive in October and The Vagina Monologues in April.
- Volunteering with location organizations such as Valley Crisis Center.
